Welcome to our web site!

The Sayreville Historical Society was founded in 1974. It has adopted as its Motto “Preserving the past to serve the future” and aims to promote an interest in history, focusing especially on that of the Borough of Sayreville. Membership is open to all, children and adults alike.

The Society meets on the second Thursday of each month, September through June at 7:30 pm, at the Sayreville Senior Center.

In 1984, Sayreville New School No.1 became the permanent home of the Sayreville Historical Museum.

After a year of construction, to include both handicapped accessible elevator and bathrooms, the Sayreville Historical Society would like to announce the grand reopening of the Sayreville Museum.

Our Museum, is normally open to the public every Sunday from 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM.

News

Sayreville Community Day was a great success!! There were 72 entries in the "Guess the Artifact" Contest. Only one person identified it correctly!

The winner was Anthony Sattilaro who won a copy of the book Images of Sayreville.

The wooden object was a gas alarm used during WWI to warn people of a gas leak in the area.
